Creating this Website

Creating this website felt like creating a work of art – and that is exactly what we feel this website has become as we share the stories of Yvette Moore, her family and all the artisans we showcase in our incredible historical building. Take your time as you browse through all the pages and especially the videos of 11 of our artisans as they welcome us all into their studios and display the passion of what makes them create their works, tell their stories. With the support of Tourism Saskatchewan, we feel that we have accomplished what we were striving for – to educate our viewers about the creative space that our artisans live and breath in as they passionately hand make their works of art.

Deborah Boehm lives in Dundurn, Saskatchewan. After becoming a breast cancer survivor in 2011, Deborah decided it was time to enjoy life and remembering the garden spirits that she had seen a few years earlier and finally finding the right time, took a class in Paverpol sculptures.

In 2014, Deborah became an instructor and formed her company Sunshower Garden Spirits. Going to her studio and creating these whimsical pixies, giving each their own personality, whether it is reading books, playing a flute or flying kites makes it really hard to give them up. Not having facial features enables a person to imagine the garden spirit as someone in their own life. Putting a little peak in the pixie hats is to honour her father, a remembrance of him in his RCAF uniform with his service cap.

Paverpol is a liquid fabric hardener and once cured can stay outside all year round, and rinsed off with a gentle spray of water when needed cleaning.

Deborah also does commissions, some that depict something from a person’s life, like a dancer or some that are 4 feet tall, a banjo player, all having their own personalities’.

Weatherproof / Waterproof

The Garden Spirits are fabric treated with a water based, non toxic textile hardener that is ACMI certified and can withstand four season outdoor display.
