Time marked trails

Wagon trails are part of the history and heritage of the Canadian prairies and the trail from Wood Mountain(est.1876) to Caron(est.1886) served the Territory for a quarter century before the existence of the province of Saskatchewan and the arrival of the European settlers. In 1916 the meandering trail was surveyed as a road to begin to formalize infrastructure for the newly populated region. In 1920 the survey plan was abandoned in favour of utilizing the grid road allowances of the general land titles survey.

One hundred years later the meandering ruts pressed into the prairie by wagons of early travellers are still visible in the native grasslands of the Coteau hills southwest of Moose Jaw.

TIme Marked Trail captures and shares a view of the travellers of the region’s earliest era.

-Denis

“When I began working for the Yvette Moore Gallery in 2016, I knew only a little about the beauty she captures of the Saskatchewan prairies.  I very soon discovered the amazing detail and the love she pours into each one of her original paintings.

It seemed fitting to me to have commissioned, for my husband Denis, a 25th anniversary gift of an original Yvette Moore painting of a picture he had taken of our pasture in spring time.

The view from the saddle, on his horse “Badger”, evokes special memories for my husband and it was an enjoyable day to gift him this beautiful and treasured piece of original art.”
