“Small Town Solitude” by Yvette Moore
Ceylon, Saskatchewan became one of Yvette’s favourite small town subjects for many of her paintings. The picturesque setting of the rail tracks leading up to the grain elevators with a field of swatted grain on one side and a pasture on the other with the buildings housing the businesses, churches and homes were all in harmony for a perfect autumn day.

“The Day is Done” by Yvette Moore
One of Yvette’s Most Popular images “The Day is Done”: a scene becoming a part of prairie history as these smaller farms are disappearing off our prairie landscape.
The irony of this painting is that is can take on so many meanings. The sunset tells us that is the end of the day. The farm is deserted so it is at the end of its days. But yet, the painting seems to take on a life of its own – as if to say that even at this time of its existence, it still has its own presence for today and tomorrow is another day.

“Shining Through” by Yvette Moore

“Blue Bird Cafe” by Yvette Moore
Blue Bird Cafe – Butler’s Fish & Chips
Located Regina Beach, Saskatchewan, this popular family owned & operated cafe by the Butler family entertained guests from 1928 till 2008. From generation to generation, the Butler Family shared a similar pride in passing down their own special recipes and dedication to serving their customers. They also adapted and maintained the original furnishings and nostalgic flair that this restaurant is known for as much as their fish & chips.
Customers filled the front steps, booths and stools inside anxiously awaiting the arrival of their order or wait to hear their name for their fix of “Butlers Fish & Chips”. No longer in the Butler family, the new owners have continued the traditions under the new name of BLUE BIRD CAFE.

“Face Off” by Yvette Moore
Every hockey player knows the feeling of anticipation of this one-on-one battle. With bated breath, and two teams on guard, it is the mark of the beginning; the continuation; the decision.
Inside every game exists mini battles. The excitement and demise of small victories or small defeats that could change the momentum of the game at any second.

“Across the Slough” by Yvette Moore
In North America, “slough” may refer to a side-channel from or feeding a river, or an inlet or natural channel only sporadically filled with water. Sloughs are ecologically important as they are a part of an endangered environment; our wetlands.
It was a common scene around any farmland or even close to a farm yard. But it’s not a term heard often as sloughs are disappearing as they are being turned to cultivated land.
“Across the Slough” can have two meanings in this scene: the fresh falling snow shows the tracks left behind across the slough or the view across the slough to the hills beyond.

“Two Old Bins” by Yvette Moore
“TWO OLD BINS” BY YVETTE MOORE
This couple of old bins stood alone on the side of the highway for years – just waiting out the rest of their days as relics of our rural past. Their usefulness had become obsolete as they were replaced with steel bins over the years. But as a foreground for the clouds and sky so full of different shades of colours, they were perfect and had a presence worth noting.
