SASKATOON PIE – Just Like Mom’s
One of the paintings that I needed to create for the book “Heartland – A Prairie Sampler” was something to do with Saskatoon berries. When I did this painting in 2002, my three daughters were all grown up but I had taken some photos of them playing and making pies many years before. So with some rearranging and changing of positions, I was able to include all three of them along with my mother’s old Blue Ribbon cookbook and my harvest gold canister. This painting brought back a lot of memories just with their clothes, the furniture, the old pie plate and especially the girls.
